How to Have a Lovecore Aesthetic Party

Lovecore: An Aesthetic for Romantics

If you love Valentine’s Day but it’s spring, summer or fall, you can always throw a lovecore party! The charming aesthetic you see during the first half of February isn’t just a holiday colour scheme; it’s also its own year-round style called lovecore. A lovecore aesthetic embraces all things romantic and feminine, such as hearts and lace and pink and red. It’s an over-the-top juicy and playful theme that’s so much fun to celebrate. So if you love lovecore, make it a party!

How to Throw a Lovecore Aesthetic Party

1. Create the Scene with Lovecore decorations

Lovecore décor is what dreamhouses are made of (particularly dreamhouses of the Barbie sort). It’s one thing to go all out and redecorate your home (fun! But could get pricey, too!), but it’s very easy to find plenty of pink and red party decorations like streamers and the like. Find swaths of sheer cloth in pinks and reds and drape from the ceiling or doorways. Do the same with lace. Display martini glasses with pearls and flower petals. You can usually find inexpensive party supplies if you know where to look. And, with a little time and motivation, you can almost always DIY your party decorations.

Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

2. Prepare Lovecore-Inspired Food and Beverages

Share the love with tasty food and bevvies! You can provide hearty dishes or you can keep it light and simple with plenty of fun appetizers. To simplify food preparation (and minimize its cost), invite others to bring a dish potluck-style. Most people are happy to contribute (see 6. Guest Participation). Just be aware of any invited guests’ dietary restrictions and provide at least one or two decent food/drink options for them as well. And always let people know in the invitation what to expect (i.e. snacks vs. an actual meal).

A lovecore aesthetic calls for bevvies like pink champagne, hibiscus tea, cherry soda – and strawberry soda floats, for that matter. Here are just a few lovecore-inspired recipes to get your menu started:

3. Set the Ambience with the Perfect Playlist or Video

To create an electric lovecore aesthetic, play pretty pop love songs. Or go with indie, hip hop, whatever feels right. If you want to make it a dance party, amp up a killer playlist. For a more relaxed, romantic vibe, choose your favourite low-key artists. Most genres will do – there are many gems from each – so long as the vibe is upbeat, energized and all about love – whether love for another, for self, for friends, or for life!

4. Add Evocative Scents with a Lovecore Aesthetic

Everyone loves to walk into a place that smells amazing! Light one of these deliciously-scented candles to welcome your guests with a delightful aroma:

5. Plan Lovecore Activities

A lovecore aesthetic party is a perfect excuse for sappy rom coms and chick flicks! Movies aren’t exactly party material unless you’re specifically hosting a specific movie-themed party, but you could play any chick flick and make a drinking game out of it. Just choose a common word or phrase in any given movie (or just use love) and, every time you hear it in the movie, each guest must then repeat it as quickly as possible and the last person to do so has to drink. Or, if not drinking, the last guest to repeat the word has to do a jumping jack (or whatever consequence you choose for the game!).

There are so many silly rom coms and chick flicks, but here are just a few for inspiration:

6. Establish Guest Participation

Guest participation is optional and depends on how much you would like guests to contribute. To help simplify food prep, you can request that guests bring a dish to share. Or invite them to wear their loveliest, most romantic or glamorous outfit – dressed up in lace, red, or pink. Just make sure you clarify this when you initially invite people and include any relevant information in the invitation!

Of course, always choose your guests mindfully and with their interests in mind. Prioritize friends who you know adore a lovecore aesthetic. But don’t shy away from others who may not know much about it. You never know, you may turn someone on to it!
